Our Rating System

The thing that kind of holds everything together is the rating system. You need to have a rough understanding of it to make sure you understand some of the scores you’ll find as you go from section to section.

We decided to break the rankings into three different groups, but it could easily have been four. The bottom group of 1 to 3 and the top group of 8 to 10 would be the same in either system.

If you see a site with a ranking of 1 to 3 you shouldn’t consider playing there. These sites have poor reputations and don’t take care of their players very well. On the other hand, if you find a site with a rating from 8 to 10 you can trust them to offer safe play and do what they say they will. These are the best of the best and deserve your play.

To make it stand out even more, these are the places where we play with our own money and where everyone in our inner circle plays.

All of the other ratings fall from 4 to 7. While all of these places to gamble are relatively safe, they all have flaws that keep them from being rated in the top tier. But there’s quite a difference between a 4 and a 7. That’s what we meant when we said the rating could’ve been made into four sections instead of three.

We still trust a rating of 4 or 5, but not as much as a 6 or 7. The good news is that each review includes the reasons why the site received the rating it did as well as links to issues they’ve had in the past.

You can gather your own information and decide if you trust a 4 or if you’re going to start looking for a higher rating.

Each review sets out to answer three important questions.

  • Is this online casino safe & secure?
  • Is this online casino a scam?
  • Is this online casino legit, but still needs work?

What You Should Look For in an Online Casino

When we look for a safe online casino to play at and recommend to others we start looking for a few different things.

The most important thing about any online casino or other gambling site is if we can trust them to pay us when it comes time to make a withdrawal. This may seem like a no-brainer, but the truth is that a site can get away with a great deal of poor customer service and gameplay if they always pay.

The good news is that most online casinos that pay winners in a timely fashion also have good customer service and quality games.

Also, the bottom line is if we don’t trust a place to pay us we won’t recommend them to others no matter what else we may find.

Once the payout information is taken care of we try to find out how long the site has been in business, who the ownership group is, how many public player complaints are floating around and how they’ve been handled, and how they treat their affiliates.

You don’t need to worry too much about how a site treats its affiliates as a player, but the reason we consider it is because if a business starts screwing their affiliates the players are usually going to start getting screwed soon. But don’t make the mistake of thinking a business that takes good care of their affiliates will also take care of their players. Many crooked casinos treat their affiliates like gold because getting the affiliates to give them good reviews is the only way they can get new players.

One thing you never have to worry about here is reading a falsely positive review. We won’t recommend a casino that we don’t trust whether they offer us money or not.

We’ve done all of this work for you on the reviews found on this site. On every review, we’ve tried to list both the good and the bad about the casino, sportsbook, or poker room in question.

A Word on Multi-Service Gambling Sites

Some gambling sites offer more than one product. For example, Bovada, a US-facing casino, offers a sportsbook, casino, and poker room. The ratings on this site take into account all of the products a site offers.

The good news is if a poker room takes care of payouts in a timely manner their casino usually does also. The bottom line is if we recommend a site feel safe using any of the products they offer.

How to Avoid Scam Review Sites

Many review sites only have great things to say about every online casino listed on their site. While a few sites may only list the very best sites, most of them list anyone who’s willing to pay them.

Always be wary if a site only has positive reviews.

Try to see when the last time the site was updated. Things change and a casino that offered a good experience a couple of years ago may have changed.

Once you find a site that offers a quality experience, real reviews that include positives and negatives, and is easy to use, take a minute to bookmark it so you can use it as a resource the next time you need to find out more about a casino.

If you haven’t looked around the site enough to know that this site is trustworthy enough to be bookmarked, take a look at the reviews right now. Keep reading until we’ve earned your trust.

Then bookmark or save the site right now.
